In response to the passing of his wife Bimbo, Lagos State Government, acting through the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), has brought an involuntary manslaughter case against Ikechukwu Ogbonna, a well-known car dealer in Lagos, before the High Court of Lagos, Ikeja. In October 2022, a fire at their home in the Lekki neighborhood of the state claimed the life of Late Bimbo. The car dealer is being charged by the DPP with involuntary manslaughter, which is against Section 229 of the Lagos Criminal Law. Ikechukwu entered a not guilty plea to the accusation, and Justice Modupe Nicole-Clay is now holding the trial.
