Reported Chelsea target Gonzalo Higuain would rather move to Stamford Bridge than AC Milan, according to an Italian journalist. Higuain has been linked with a departure from Serie A champions Juventus, with Maurizio Sarri interested in a reunion with the player he coached at Napoli.  A swap deal with Milan which would see Leonardo Bonucci return to Turin  has also been suggested. However, Tancredi Palmeri claims that Higuain would prefer to join the Blues than Milan. Embattled Nigerian Lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, said he has survived four assassination attempts on his life since April. The Senator said officers of the Nigerian police attached to him have been withdrawn since three months ago and has many failed attempts to get them restored. “I’m an exposed Nigerian who has survived 4 assassination attempts in one year,”  Melaye tweeted on Monday. “Senate resolution to IG to provide security ignored.” The lawmaker representing Kogi West was allegedly kidnapped last Thursday. He announced his freedom after eleven hours in the “wilderness”. But the police said it cannot confirm if he was truly kidnapped. The Senator is currently standing trial in more than one suit: he has been accused of illegal possession of arms and gun running. Seven members of a family in eastern India were found hanging inside their home, police told AFP Monday, in what they said was a suspected case of mass suicide — although two victims were infants. The family were living in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand state, and the dead included two women and three men alongside the two children. “Initial investigations point to suicide. We have also recovered suicide notes pointing to the family’s financial situation,” Anish Gupta, senior superintendent of Ranchi police told AFP. “It looks like the two adult brothers, one of whom was married, helped others commit suicide before taking their own lives,” Gupta added. Ranchi police say that there are no signs of a break-in or an outsider’s presence at the house, and the handwritten notes mention distress and financial hardships faced by the family. Justice Benjamin Iheka of Imo state High Court, Owerri, Monday granted an interim order stopping the 7-man panel of inquiry constituted by the state Chief Judge on the state Deputy Governor Eze Madumere from sitting.  The Court adjourned to August 13, 2018 for accelerated hearing on the matter. The embattled Imo State Deputy Governor is challenging the impeachment process against him by some members of the Imo state House of Assembly. Madumere, a known close political associate of the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha is said to have fallen apart with his boss over the battle for succession in 2019.

This morning, a fire outbreak destroyed part of a Bank inside the campus of the Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko, (AAUA) Ondo State.   According to reports, the fire incident affected the four new ATMs that were just installed at the bank and also some offices were burnt down by the fire. “It took the quick intervention of the men of the fire services department of the university before the situation could be brought under control. For some hours members of staff of the bank were unable to gain access to the bank as they were all outside discussing the incident”  an eye witness said.

A 25-years-old man identified as Julius Nwode, has reportedly murdered his won father, Nwode Nwignoaka, and his 7-years-old sister at Ifelemenu community, Ekpaomaka in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi state on Sunday. An eyewitness disclosed that Julius went berserk killing his father and sister before attacking six other residents of the community who came to intervene in the matter. It was gathered that he inflicted serious machete cuts on the six other residents of the area before he was later gunned down by a husband of one of the victims of his attack, a source said.
