The newly-redesigned N1,000, N500 and N200 bills became legal tender on December 15, 2022. The Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, on October 26 announced plans to redesign the denominated notes, saying the old notes would cease to be legal tender by Jananuary 31, 2022. He said the reason for the currency redesign was to stop counterfeiting and hoarding. However, just Yesterday a Nigeria lady draged and disgraced a man in public saying the money is fake, and refused to accept it. She even went to the extent of tiering his trousers. It wasn't funny at all. This means there are still some Nigeria citizens that don't really know that federal government have changed and redesigned the country currency.
