The Federal Government is making plans to prosecute users of PolyChlorinated Biphenyl (PCBs), popularly known as transformer oil, in frying “akara” (bean cake), plantain chips, chicken and other food items. Prof. Babajide Alloy, a Consultant to the Federal Ministry of Environment, made the disclosure on Tuesday in an interview with newsmen on the sidelines of a workshop in Calabar. Three armed robbers have been arrested by the police in Ogun state. The robbers were arrested on June 8 while on their way to carry out a robbery operation. The suspects, 27-year-old Ibiyemi Wasiri a.k.a fellow, 20-year-old Alabi Ojugbele and 18-year-old Obe Lekan were arrested at Orita area of Ilaro, during the joint routine patrol carried out by men of Ilaro area command and Ilaro divisional headquarters. The late Fathia was said to be pregnant when disaster struck. A witness said Wasiu had called his relatives, his wife’s relatives, and his Landlady that his wife was dead. When the Landlady got the information, she was said to have immediately called on the CDA Chairman, who immediately sent a distress call to the Nigeria Police station, Morogbo. When the police arrived and forcefully opened the door of the deceased’s apartment, they found the lady semi nude in a pool of her own blood with her neck slit.
