The Federal Government has tried to justify its decision to hire former Niger-Delta militant, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo to provide security for oil pipeline network across the country; saying that it did the right thing. The Edo State government says it is set to implement a 9-3-4 model of learning as a means of addressing some of the challenges in the basic education system. Governor Godwin Obaseki who said this during the inspection of New Era College Benin which will serve as one of the Senior Secondary Schools to be activated in the state by September also promised the new policy will take care of children with special needs. Unlike the present 6-3-3-4 system, the 9-3-4 system will classify the first nine years from Primary one to Junior Secondary school three as basic education and three years for Senior Secondary Classes before moving on to higher institutions for another four years. Terrorists operating in the forest area of Jibiya Local Government Area of Katsina State have launched a fresh attack blocking the Jibiya-Katsina road, killing 2 people and abducting dozens more. The United States will announce $3bn in fresh military aid to Kyiv as Ukraine marks its Independence Day, as well as the six-month anniversary of the Russian invasion. Six persons were killed on Tuesday in a road accident at Ajue along the Ondo-Ore road in Ondo state. The accident occurred when the driver of a trailer coming from the Ore Axis of the road lost control of the steering wheel and veered off the road before ramming into a Nissan bus conveying ten passengers. The Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ore, Ondo state, Babafemi Alonge, who confirmed the accident, said six passengers aboard the bus died instantly.

The police authorities in Kwara State have dismissed a viral video regarding a protest by some policemen over alleged non-payment of one year’s salary. About 1,056 special constables had manned some strategic areas of Ilorin on Saturday in protest, alleging that the Kwara State Government was owing them for 18 months. The protesters complained that they have not been paid any salary by the state government since the completion of their training in April 2021. But the Commissioner of Police in the state, Tuesday Assayomo, said the Command is not owing the salary of any conventional policeman or the allowance of the special constabulary shown in the video.
