Terrorists Kill Three, Abduct Three In Niger State

Three lives have been lost while three others were kidnapped by gunmen who stormed Kuta town in Shiroro local government of Niger State. The Nation reported that council chairman Akilu Kuta escaped being abducted when the terrorists stormed some communities surrounding Kuta town. The attack was also carried out barely 24 hours after the Councillor of Allawa ward in the Shiroro local government area was killed by terrorists. Akilu was travelling with Niger All Progressives Congress(APC) Assistant Youth Leader, Suleiman Saidu Galkogo to Minna during the attack. While they escaped the attack, their vehicles were badly damaged from gun bullets. The terrorists reportedly launched an attack on Chiri, Kadna, Kam, Vemu, and other adjoining villages along the Zumba-Gwada road and operated for over five hours. As the scarcity of the Premium of Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, continued on Sunday, oil marketers have stated that the cost of the commodity would cross N800/litre once subsidy on PMS is removed. Industry operators had repeatedly stated that the high cost of subsidy on petrol was a burden on the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and was contributory to the prolonged crisis in the downstream oil sector. NNPC is the sole importer of petrol into Nigeria. The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, recently suggested that the government should gradually withdraw subsidy on PMS, stressing that the budgetary allocation for subsidy would end in June. But oil marketers told our correspondent that while it could be advisable to remove subsidy, Nigerians should know that the cost of petrol could cross N800/litre once the commodity was no longer subsidised. Robbers Invade Anambra Students’ Hostel, Rape, Rob Victims

As many as 10 female students have been r*ped and robbed in Anambra. They were r*ped when armed robbers invaded six off-campus student hostels at Ifite, near the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State. According to sources, the hoodlums, numbering about 20 stormed the area at about 8:00 pm on Thursday, going from one hostel to another until 5:00 am on Friday, during which they robbed students of their valuables and r*ped some female students. This was barely a few days after hoodlums also killed some security men and a 200-level student of the institution around the area. It was gathered that the hoodlums have been visiting restaurants and bars robbing students and bar owners at gunpoint between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm on a daily basis.
